  • The Methodist Medical Center Mobile Mammography Van is scheduled at various stops in our community for the month of September.  Go to www.mymethodist.net for a complete list of when and where the van will be or call 671-8282 for more information.
  • The First Annual Hope In A Hangar Lifeline Pilots Banquet will be held Saturday, September 26th at Byerly Aviation Terminal, General Downing International Airport.  Doors open at 4:00 p.m. with a Prime Rib Dinner at 5:30 p.m.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.  For more information, contact Shelly Livengood at 309.369.1559 or missions@lifelinepilots.org

  • The Counseling Center at Proctor Hospital will sponsor a new workshop called Anger Management for Teens, September 6th-October 14th from 5-6 p.m. in the Lower Level Meeting Room at the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery at Proctor Hospital.  The program is designed for ages 14-17.  Call the Counseling Center at 39.689.6008 for more information. 
  • The Anger Management Group of the Counseling Center at Proctor Hospital will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. through October 28th at the Counseling Center located at 5409 N. Knoxville Ave., on the campus of Proctor Hospital.  Call the Counseling Center at 309.689.6008 for more information.
  • The Proctor Health Care Foundation and the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery at Proctor Hospital are pleased to announce the Third Annual Recovery Walks! and 30th Celebration.  The walk will be held Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Proctor Hospital.  For more information, call Laura School at 309.693.0414. 
  • The Counseling Center at Proctor Hospital will present "Options for Care for the Mature Adult" on September 30th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Classroom III of the Proctor Professional Building.  Call 309.689.6008 to register.  There is no charge for this class. 
  • The Family Maternity Center offers classes in September for the entire family.  From LAMAZE to the Stork Club, the classes are for everyone in the family.  Call the Family Maternity Center at 309.691.1099 for more information.
  • The Counseling Center at Proctor Hospital will present "How To Have A Great School Year:  Tips for Parents" on Wednesday, September 16th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Proctor Professional Building at 5409 N. Knoxville.  Call 309.689.6008 to register. 
  • The Professional Development Institute at ICC will offer a 10 session leadership beginning October 6th at ICC South in Pekin.  The series is divided into two phases.  Phase I is entitled "The Leader in Me" and Phase II is entitled "Leadership Tools".  For more information, contact Sean McMurtry at 309.999.4567 or email smcmuirtry@icc.edu
  • Kevin Carter, River City Construction, will speak at the Labor Day Salute Breakfast on Thursday, September 3rd at the Peoria Civic Center.  Kevin's talk will be "Better Workers+Better Relationships=Success". 
  • CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING...
    • Congratulations to Lisa Hebert, RN, Proctor Medical Group, recipient of the July 2009 PEP Award. Some comments Lisa received:  "Lisa is the consummate professional.  She sets, and then exceeds, very high professional and personal performance standards.  Lisa is respectful, courteous, and her patients easily sense her compassion." 
    • Methodist Medical Center announced the August, 2009 Employees of the Month.  The three selected were Cheryl  Schadt, RN was selected for the category of Nursing.  Duane Funk was selected for non-nursing support.  And, Jennifer Branaman was selected for the category of Patient Registration.  All three were honored at a hospital reception on August 26th. 

Taste Of Peoria TASTE OF PEORIA WINNERS NAMED...  

Three Chamber members won BIG in the 2009 Taste of Peoria. 

  • Qdoba Mexican Grill won first place in the Best Appetizer category with Cracked Pepper Catering taking third place. 
  • Cracked Pepper Catering took first place in the Best Casual Entree category. 
  • Culver's of East Peoria won third place in the Best Dessert category. 

Congratulations to the Walz family and Walz employees on the success of Walz Scales and Walz Label & Mailing Systems.   The companies are in their third generation of Walz ownership.    Tom Walz attributes their success to their Midwestern values, obviously instilled by Fred and Pat Walz, parents of Tom.  We wish Tom, Mark, and Nate many more generations of success.
