Thank you to everyone who supported the 30th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on August 6th.  The guest speaker, Father Peter Gallagher, Chaplain for the Indianapolis Colts gave a wonderful talk.  He shared humorous stories of the players as well as the coaches.  He said the worst time of his being chaplain was at the funeral of Coach Dungy’s son, James.   Father Gallagher marveled at what East Peoria and Peoria has to offer.  He said the area was not at all what he had imagined.  Entertainment was provided by Rachel West-Kramer whose voice is truly a gift.  Rachel performed several songs including the National Anthem which was very moving.   Mayor Mingus’ message was to remember that we are one region under God and to be thankful we are able to gather and pray in a public setting.   Two scholarships were presented:  Chris Hilton, Past President, presented the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce Business Scholarship to Jamie Lovell.  Penny Underhill, daughter of Terry Brewer presented the Terance J. Brewer Memorial Scholarship to Shawna Winchell.   We thank everyone who attended the breakfast as well as the sponsors of the event.
